If you've not spent time around high alpine environments, the physical realities of glaciers can be exceptionally difficult to comprehend. The Churo glacier (the fluffy, marshmallow looking glacier) coming down from the mountain peak is what I always associated glaciers with. Yet look into the mid ground... the light strip of dirt running across the image is the Khumbu glacier, fed by Everest and numerous other peaks along the way, in making its immense way down this valley to eventually end up as water flowing into the sea. The scale of the Himalaya is truly overwhelming.
