It feels as though every time I hike the Cape to Cape track I experience the same place in new, and unexpected ways. On this occasion, a big storm front was building over the ocean and was in the process of making landfall. With the clouds beginning to cover the sun, it brought a muted, charged atmosphere full of the static energy you feel in the middle of a thunderstorm. The resounding silence you hear that moment before the lightning strike.
The sudden change from sunlight to darkness adding to the foreboding of what's to come.
